Reflections from Noblemen

This past semester, some of the men in Revive have been going through a program called Noblemen. Noblemen is a program about biblical manhood to connect, inspire, & equip men to live noble lives that bless those around them. To wrap up the program, the Noblemen in Revive were commissioned at our Sunday Service by reciting the Noblemen Creed from memory. Here are some thoughts on Noblemen from one of the newly minted Noblemen, Nico!

Noblemen was much more intentional and impactful than I had expected. Going in, I thought it might mostly involve daily Bible reading and casual discussion, but it ended up being a deeper commitment that challenged me to really examine my relationship with God, especially in areas like sin, relationships, and the kind of man I want to become for my future wife, children, and others I may lead to Christ. Noblemen also, which I did not really expect, encouraged us to share what we were learning with others. And this made the course feel a lot more active and purposeful than I thought it would be.

There were a lot of parts of the course that pushed me in ways I did not expect. One thing that was a little intimidating at first, but that I am glad we did, was reaching out weekly to friends or people we did not know as well, ideally non-Christians, and sharing some of the discussion questions with them. We would ask for their thoughts, share our own, and just start real conversations outside of Noblemen that helped show me that this was not supposed to stop with us, but that we were really being called to go out, share, and lead others toward Christ.

The weekly meetings were always really good. The video discussions and the openness of both the mentors and the other men created an encouraging environment that pushed us to be honest and helped me grow closer to the group.

Toward the end of the program, we shared testimonies and life stories. Some were shorter, some were long and really detailed, but all of them were meaningful! It was honestly crazy hearing things you would never have known about people otherwise, and I was grateful to be there and that they felt comfortable enough to share. The whole experience just kept showing me how important fellowship is and what it looks like to create a space where people can be real with each other.

At first, even memorizing the creed felt intimidating, but now it has become something meaningful that I can return to as a reminder of how to resist things like passivity or temptation and maintain my orientation toward God. Overall, this course strengthened my posture toward faith in a serious and practical way by helping me recognize what draws me toward or away from God and by emphasizing actionable steps like staying in fellowship, having a consistent devotional time, seeking mentors, and mentoring younger men. It also gave me examples of the kind of environment I would want to help create for others one day, whether that is in friendship, leadership, or discipleship.I am grateful for the experience and the mentors, and for how much it has already changed me.
